Senior Cost Accountant The Senior Cost Accountant provides reviews and analysis of project costs and budgets, works with Division Managers to ensure accurate presentation in company financials, determines risk factors, supports system development, and prepares financial documents and reports. Responsibilities Provide reviews and analysis of project costs and budgets with Division Managers. Determine risk factors and present findings to Finance Management Mentor and guide junior members of the Cost Accounting Department. Review, analyze and prepare company revenue forecasts for executive management. Support development of current systems and procedures, including Oracle PM tools and finance forms. Assist in development, implementation and maintenance of cost accounting systems for job costs and budgets. Prepare subsidiary accounting and financial documents for divisions (CACs, backlog, invalid time reports and budgets). Prepare cost and statistical reports for corporate management. Prepare financial data for bid proposals and similar packages. Perform internal audits. Assist Project Management in resolving costing issues. Travel to regional offices to support operations, conduct month‑end reviews and train staff on finance procedures and systems. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience in financial management and general accounting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and familiarity with Oracle is preferred. Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work under time pressure. Working Conditions General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually low to medium; can be loud on the jobsite. Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
