Server PositionThe server provides friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all our guests. Each server's primary objective is to provide our guests with an excellent experience, so they will want to return. As one of the primary contacts for guests dining in the restaurant, the server is responsible for serving food & beverage. Must be available to work weekends, nights and holidays.Essential/Primary Duties:Greets & welcomes guests, describes dishes, recommends beverage pairings, anticipates guests' needs and monitors overall guest satisfactionMaintains a clean work environment and sets up the team for successServers must have a very thorough knowledge of all menu itemsMonitors and observes guests dining experience to ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service and respond promptly and courteously to correct any problemsCollects payments from guestsWrites guests' food orders on order slips, memorizes orders, or enters orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staffPrepares checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxesTakes food or beverage orders from guestsChecks guests' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beveragesServes food or beverages to guests and prepares or serves specialty dishes at tablesPresents menus to guests and answers questions about menu items, beverages, and other restaurant functions and servicesInforms guests of menu changes and daily specials and makes recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoyCleans tables or countersPrepares hot, cold, and mixed drinks for guests, and chill bottles of wineRolls silverware set up food stations or set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large partiesStocks service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.Explains to guests how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methodsPrepares tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glasswareRemoves dishes and glasses from tables or counters and take them to kitchen for cleaningAssists host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guestsPerforms cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathroomBrings wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses and pour the wines for guestsPerforms food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffeeEscorts guests to their tablesGarnishes and decorates dishes in preparation for servingFills salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containersDescribes and recommends wines to guestsSecondary Duties:Provides guests with information about local areas, including giving directionsFills in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operationsEducation and/or Experience:High school diploma and 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceCompetency/Skill Requirements:Excellent conversationalist with a pleasant and professional personalityStrong decision-making, multi-tasking and organizational skillsExcellent written and oral communication skills.Basic computer and clerical skills.Supervisory Responsibilities:No supervisory responsibilities
