Submit claims electronically through EMR or EHR systems, adhering to payer guidelines and deadlines. Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims by initiating medical collections processes and resolving discrepancies promptly. Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, including ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and related regulations. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation gaps or ambiguities that could affect coding accuracy. Assist in audits or reviews of billing processes to improve efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance. Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to accurately interpret clinical documentation. Proficiency in medical coding systems including ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and ICD coding standards. Experience with medical billing processes from claim submission to payment posting. Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR platforms for data entry and claim management. Ability to perform medical collection activities effectively while maintaining professionalism. Excellent attention to detail to minimize errors in coding and billing procedures. Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
