Automation Specialist Co-Op

Johnson & Johnson seeks an Automation Specialist Co-Op student for a full-time, year-long position in Añasco, Puerto Rico starting January 2027. The role involves supporting manufacturing automation systems, troubleshooting equipment, assisting with PLC/HMI programming, and collaborating across engineering and operations teams in a regulated MedTech environment.
Responsibilities
- Support automated manufacturing equipment, control systems, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and industrial networks
- Assist with troubleshooting, PLC/HMI programming, testing, and system documentation activities
- Collect data, perform system backups, conduct reliability assessments, and execute routine checks
- Participate in automation projects, equipment upgrades, commissioning, and startup activities
- Prepare technical documentation and collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, and IT teams
Requirements
- Completed freshman year and currently pursuing bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, industrial, software, automation, robotics, or mechatronics engineering
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must remain enrolled throughout co-op term and work onsite full-time in Puerto Rico
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and technical documentation skills
- Permanent U.S. work authorization; no visa sponsorship required now or in future
