Controller

Overview Kforce’s client, a privately held multi‑entity organization in the construction industry located in Saint Louis, MO, is seeking a hands‑on Controller. The role partners closely with ownership and senior leadership, balancing day‑to‑day accounting responsibilities with higher‑level financial oversight. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, comfortable working collaboratively, and local to the Saint Louis area for a full‑time onsite position. Responsibilities Full cycle monthly close process across multiple entities Prepare and review monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) Maintain general ledger accuracy and perform account reconciliations Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions Process weekly payroll Manage inventory and cost of goods sold Support leadership with clear, timely financial reporting and analysis Requirements 5‑8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience with management skills Experience supporting multi‑entity and/or owner‑operated businesses Background in manufacturing, construction, or a similar trade‑based industry Ability to work independently while providing leadership and sound judgment Comfortable building and improving systems and processes Ability to clearly communicate financial results and KPIs to non‑financial stakeholders Reliable, accountable, and growth‑minded Comfortable interacting with multiple departments, vendors, customers, and field personnel Compensation & Benefits Pay range: the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably think we would pay for this role. Employee pay is based on education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract, and business needs. The range may be modified in the future. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & AD&D insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave. Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce’s sole discretion.
