Job Opportunity – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse – Virginia

Schedule: 13-week assignment with flexible scheduling options (36 or 48-hour weeks available). Rotating shifts with every other weekend commitment (3 weekends per 6-week schedule). Required to work 2 out of 3 winter holidays. May be required to float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs.

Highlights:

• Combined pediatric cardiac and medical critical care patient population with high acuity cases
• Cardiac diagnoses include DORV, TOF, HLHS, Norwood procedures, TGA, and heart transplant patients
• Medical cases include traumatic brain injury, respiratory illnesses, DKA, seizures, and various post-operative cases including transplant patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity (may occasionally require 2:1 for high-acuity patients)
• Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation provided
• Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and physical therapy

Requirements:

• Active Virginia RN license or willingness to obtain (pending licenses accepted; must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU experience required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Pediatric cardiac experience strongly preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Experience with specialized equipment including ECMO, VADs, and CRRT
• Competency in advanced pediatric critical care skills including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, arterial line management, chest tube management, and administration of vasopressors
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccination not required
• Professional references required with submission
