Assistant Controller

Our client, a well established and growing financial organization in Columbia, is hiring an Assistant Controller to join their team.



Position Summary
The Assistant Controller provides leadership and hands-on support for the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, audit readiness, budgeting, and compliance activities. It involves working closely with the VP of Finance, CFO, and Financial Services staff to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information; maintain the integrity of the general ledger; support accounting and reporting requirements; and strengthen departmental processes, procedures, and documentation.



Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree(s) in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA preferred.
• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the field of accounting/finance or a related field.
• Must have extensive knowledge of the principles, theories and practices of accounting /finance or related field. Experience with Fund Accounting preferred.
• The ability to perform major administrative functions such as preparing reports and/or publications with structured deadlines to assist with the management of major administrative decisions, and to interpret and implement organizational policies and procedures.
• Proficient use in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
• Prior experience with accounting systems such as Blackbaud preferred.
• Working knowledge of cash flow and financial projections and budget analysis.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
