Linguist III (FAIR)

Remote | Short-Term Contract

Position Overview

Seeking a Linguist III to support FAIR in linguistic research and multilingual AI analysis.

Required Qualifications

• 0–3 years of relevant professional/research experience.
• Completed PhD in Linguistics required ; theoretical Linguistics preferred.
• Native/near-native English plus native/near-native proficiency in one qualifying language: Filipino/Tagalog, Cebuano, Thai, Lao, Swahili, Hebrew, or qualifying Ethiosemitic language .
• Python, SQL, and basic NLP required.
• Strong knowledge of syntax, morphology, phonology, sociolinguistics, typology, pragmatics, and corpus linguistics.
• Experience working with large datasets and cross-functional ML/NLP/Engineering/Data Science teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze linguistic data and AI model outputs.
• Identify linguistic errors, bias, toxicity, and other language-related issues.
• Conduct typological, sociolinguistic, and NLP-related research.
• Develop and review annotation and language evaluation guidelines.
• Analyze vendor quality and provide actionable feedback.
• Collaborate with AI/ML researchers, engineers, and native speakers.
• Contribute to research projects and publications.
