Senior Inventory Accountant

Prepare month-end journal entries for domestic/international freight, material allowances, inventory shrink reserves, accruals, reclasses, and amortizations in compliance with company policies and GAAP Prepare month-end account reconciliations Provide inventory and COGS variance analyses using forecast and prior-year trends Research and resolve stock ledger and inventory discrepancies with IT, warehouse, and other system owners Perform quarterly audits of e-commerce orders in local stores Assist with semi-annual physical inventory reconciliation and reporting for stores, distribution centers, and Internet operations Collaborate with external and internal auditors to support successful audits and compliance Improve inventory accounting processes Support inventory team members during peak periods Perform ad hoc analyses and reporting Ensure accuracy in inventory valuation, COGS, stock ledger integrity, and reporting Work closely with merchandising, logistics, IT, and finance teams Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of inventory or cost accounting experience (retail or wholesale industry experience preferred) Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls for related areas Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (Oracle Fusion preferred) Working knowledge of stock ledger and reconciling to GL (Oracle Retail Management experience a plus) Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets; AI experience a plus Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Strong communication and collaboration abilities Meets deadlines, prioritizes appropriately, shift gears comfortably with change, and maintains composure under pressure Is accountable for results, approaches obstacles proactively and looks for ways to resolve problems and issues A curious and critical mindset, able to challenge the status quo A genuine passion for retail and the ever-evolving customer landscape New employment-based visa sponsorship is not supported Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in inventory and cost accounting, with a strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
