Job No: 557448 Work type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer Location: Pomona Categories: Unit 3 - CFA - California Faculty Association, Temporary, Part Time, Faculty - Education/Library Science, On-site (work in-person at business location) Position Overview The Department of Liberal Studies at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites part‑time lecturer positions in Liberal Studies and Interdisciplinary General Education programs. Responsibilities Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum and provide weekly office hours based on teaching unit load. Conduct courses in various formats (in‑person, hybrid synchronous, synchronous, and asynchronous). Support student learning through active and experiential learning, critical theory, and social justice pedagogy. Required Qualifications Terminal Master’s Degree, Ed.D., or Ph.D., including ABD candidates in an academic discipline or interdisciplinary studies. Recent, strong competence in undergraduate teaching of at least four terms (non‑consecutive) using an interdisciplinary approach. Demonstrated ability to teach using active and experiential learning, critical theory, or related approaches. Preferred Qualifications Ability to develop a sense of community and rapport with students. Strong command of instructional technology (Canvas, social media, iPads, etc.). Experience teaching in different modalities (face‑to‑face, hybrid, synchronous). Strong collegiality and willingness to assess teaching effectiveness and revise instruction. Salary and Benefit Information Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background. Appointments are for one semester only. Initial appointments are at Lecturer A or B rank with a ceiling of $6,221 per month. Salaries are prorated to units worked and paid in six monthly payments per semester.
