Externship Overview An externship experience at National Veterinary Associates (NVA) hospitals provides students with hands‑on clinical exposure while working closely with a supervising veterinarian. The externship allows students to develop clinical skills, patient management, and communication with the medical team. Responsibilities Gather patient histories Perform physical examinations Create treatment plans Conduct diagnostics Assist with or perform surgical procedures Provide dentistry services Manage patient medical care Practice communication with team members and clients Program Details Most externships at Savannah Animal Hospital - Delaware range from two to eight weeks based on student and hospital schedules. The externship is available to all veterinary students, regardless of class year. Eligibility & Stipend Students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
