Virtualization Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Citrix Infrastructure Engineer to join their Enterprise Infrastructure team. This individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting a large-scale global Citrix environment that delivers secure, high-performance virtual desktop and application services across North America, EMEA, and APAC. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise across the Citrix ecosystem, VMware virtualization, authentication technologies, and automation. This is a hands‑on engineering role requiring strong troubleshooting abilities, infrastructure design experience, and a passion for improving platform reliability, security, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Design, engineer, and support enterprise Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) environments, including StoreFront, Delivery Controllers, NetScaler ADC/SDX, FAS, Citrix ADM, ShareFile, and License Management. Architect and troubleshoot StoreFront and NetScaler routing, HDX connectivity, Secure Ticket Authority (STA) communications, session brokering, and internal/external access paths. Build, configure, and maintain NetScaler nFactor authentication workflows integrating LDAP, RADIUS, SAML, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) providers. Implement and administer Citrix Federated Authentication Service (FAS), including certificate templates, Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), Group Policy configuration, and certificate-based authentication. Manage SSL/TLS certificate lifecycles across Citrix and VMware environments, including renewals, trust chain validation, and certificate format conversions. Engineer and maintain VMware vSphere/ESXi infrastructure, including vCenter administration, DRS, HA, cluster optimization, virtual machine lifecycle management, and Machine Catalog provisioning. Develop automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Apache Airflow, or similar orchestration platforms to streamline provisioning, monitoring, and operational workflows. Plan and execute Citrix platform upgrades and migrations with comprehensive backup, rollback, and post-implementation validation strategies. Provide Tier3 and Tier4 support for complex infrastructure issues and participate in a 24x7 on‑call rotation supporting global business operations. Support disaster recovery planning and execution, including backup and restoration of Citrix Delivery Controllers, StoreFront, NetScaler configurations, FAS servers, and SQL databases. Create and maintain architecture documentation, operational runbooks, technical standards, and troubleshooting guides. Required Qualifications 8+ years of hands‑on experience supporting Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD/XenApp/XenDesktop) within a large enterprise environment. Expert‑level knowledge of StoreFront, Delivery Controllers, NetScaler ADC/SDX, Citrix Studio, FAS, Citrix ADM, ShareFile, and Citrix Licensing. Extensive experience with NetScaler nFactor authentication, Single Sign‑On (SSO), Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA), PKI, ADCS, and SSL/TLS certificate management. Strong experience managing NetScaler SDX platforms, including VPX instances, High Availability (HA), LACP, VLAN configuration, firmware upgrades, and maintenance. 7+ years of VMware vSphere/ESXi administration, including vCenter, DRS, HA, provisioning workflows, and infrastructure automation using PowerCLI or pyVmomi. Advanced scripting and automation experience with PowerShell and Python. Experience with Apache Airflow or similar orchestration tools is strongly preferred. Strong Windows11 enterprise administration experience, including Active Directory authentication, Kerberos, NTLM, Group Policy, and certificate‑based authentication. Solid understanding of enterprise networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, and proxy services.
