Durable Medical Equipment Specialist – Sanford Health, Bismarck, ND Location: Bismarck, ND (626 N 6th St, Bismarck, ND 58501, USA). Shift: 8 Hours – Day Shifts. Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Salary range: $17.50 – $28.00 per hour. Job Summary Provide first‑line communication with patients, referral sources and clinicians to facilitate ordering and delivery of durable medical equipment (DME). Process requests by phone, fax, email and in person. Maintain timely and accurate patient information to enhance satisfaction and optimize revenue. Responsibilities Intake, product selection, dispensing and setup, documenting, billing, compliance, and performance management for DME. Collect and verify necessary documentation, obtain prior authorizations per payer policy. Educate patients and caregivers on coverage, use, care, and expected outcomes of DME products. Address customer concerns, resolve issues, and coordinate corrective action. Enter new patient demographics and ordering information into the computer system; assure accuracy of sale orders and delivery tickets. Explain insurance plans, financial responsibilities, and collect patient payments. Assist patients with product selection, recommend medically appropriate, cost‑effective DME. Conduct fittings and provide education in store, facility, or patient home. Deliver resources such as customer handbook, product manuals, reorder information. Check paperwork accuracy, balance the cash drawer and prepare deposits. Maintain a clean, stocked, and sanitized store; perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Strong computer skills and basic Microsoft Office proficiency. Detail oriented with excellent documentation ability. Prior experience with home medical equipment preferred. Valid driver’s license and meet medical guidelines for CategoryIII drivers if required.
