Senior Director, Corporate Strategy (San Diego / Hybrid)

Senior Director leading enterprise strategy development at Illumina, reporting to the VP of Enterprise Strategy. The role frames major strategic decisions, builds fact bases for executive evaluation, and advises leadership on long-term direction and priorities in a global, matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise strategy development defining Illumina's long-term direction and strategic priorities
• Convert executive questions into defined decisions with meaningful alternatives and analytical workplans
• Independently drive high-priority strategic initiatives from framing through recommendation and decision
• Build integrated fact base combining market, customer, competitive, technology, and financial perspectives
• Develop strategy talent and institutional capability through coaching multi-level project teams

Requirements

• Proven experience leading enterprise-level strategy in complex, matrixed organizations
• Demonstrated ability to frame ambiguous problems and develop structured decision frameworks
• Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities with quantitative rigor
• Experience building cross-functional teams and leading through influence without direct authority
• Excellent executive communication and ability to advise senior leadership credibly
• Deep understanding of market dynamics, competitive intelligence, and technology disruption
