Senior Director Tax Lawyer - Real Estate Fund

One of the most established and respected institutional real estate investment and development firms in the world is looking to add a Senior Tax Counsel to their in-house Advisory team. This firm manages tens of billions in AUM across marquee assets in major global markets and has been in significant growth mode over the past several years. This seat is a direct result of that growth. Seats like this are genuinely rare. This is a pure advisory role with zero compliance, sitting within a lean, high-caliber global tax department that works directly alongside senior deal teams on the full transaction lifecycle. The team has full-time leverage from Big 4 firms and top-tier outside counsel, which means the in-house group focuses exclusively on high-value strategic work. You will have direct visibility and exposure to Managing Directors, the CFO, and senior business leadership across the firm. The Work REIT structuring and quarterly/annual REIT testing Real estate partnership taxation and joint venture structuring Acquisitions, dispositions, and fund formations Debt modifications, refinancing support, and FIRPTA Inbound cross-border structuring from a U.S. tax standpoint Partnering directly with senior deal teams on execution, strategy, and follow-through What They Are Looking For JD required, LLM in Taxation strongly preferred Eight to twelve years of real estate tax experience from Big Law, or Big Law followed by in-house at a REIT or institutional real estate platform Deep technical expertise in REIT taxation, real estate partnership structuring, and FIRPTA Inbound cross-border structuring experience including sovereign wealth funds and foreign investors Presence, maturity, and communication skills to interface confidently with senior investment professionals, outside counsel, and business leadership Strong project management skills with the ability to run multiple complex deals simultaneously Why This Role Pure advisory work, zero compliance Sophisticated, high-profile work without the law firm grind or billable hour pressure Direct involvement in deal execution and strategy at the most institutional level Diverse deal flow across asset classes, geographies, and investor profiles Tight-knit, highly respected team where every seat does meaningful, high-leverage work Roles at this caliber and platform do not open often Total compensation is competitive and in the range of $400,000 to $550,000 depending on experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr Atlas Search
