Ambulatory Care Patient Supervisor II are registered nurses responsible for the operation of the nursing unit over a specified time period. The role requires a strong foundation of clinical knowledge and skills, the ability to make judgments and decisions, organizational and interpersonal skills for directing nursing tasks and facilitating communication among staff. Registered nurses in this position provide total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care, including assessment, documentation, planning, teaching, and evaluation of a nursing plan of care. They ensure patient satisfaction, delegate duties, train staff, and adhere to university policies and regulatory standards. AHA or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR. AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Moderate Sedation Certification obtained within 6 months of hire. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN required. Leadership or supervisory role of at least 3 years in an ambulatory setting. Knowledge of GI and high‑level disinfection process. Moderate Sedation experience required. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately. Knowledge of current trends in nursing. Commitment to excellence in patient care. Effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrates accountability and professionalism. Adapts to change in a positive, professional and productive manner. Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation. Knowledge of performance improvement and evidence‑based practice. Basic computer skills. Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, taking into consideration protective interventions, development (behavioral and physical) and physiological characteristics specific to the patients. Key Responsibilities 60% – Nursing Process and Practice 25% – Leadership and Management 5% – Professional Development 5% – Quality 5% – Nursing Research Department Overview The Midtown GI Lab performs upper and lower endoscopies, as well as motility procedures. The department uses moderate sedation (administered by the RN) and deep sedation (administered by an anesthesiologist) for upper endoscopies and colonoscopies. The unit can perform up to 36 procedures per day. Department Specific Job Scope The ANII will be responsible for staff schedules, staff competencies, scheduling in‑services, checking provider templates, ordering supplies, and monitoring all regulatory documentation and logs for the department. The ANII will also float and cross‑cover other GI procedure sites as needed when other ANII staff are on leave.
