Job Full Description

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a Full-Charge Bookkeeper on behalf of a professional association in the Madison area. This is a direct-hire opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys improving processes, solving problems, and taking ownership of financial operations. The organization is undergoing a period of financial cleanup and process improvement, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who is highly organized, self-directed, and experienced with QuickBooks Desktop. The ideal candidate will play a key role in strengthening accounting procedures and supporting the organization's continued growth.

Pay: Up to $65,000/year, based on experience

Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

Perform bookkeeping and accounting functions using QuickBooks Desktop.
Assist with financial record cleanup and reconciliation projects.
Balance accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data.
Review Excel spreadsheets for errors, discrepancies, and missing information.
Process check payments and prepare checks as needed.
Maintain organized financial and paper records.
Develop and document accounting procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Support process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Communicate proactively regarding issues, discrepancies, and project progress.

Qualifications & Skills

Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience required.
Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop is required.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with account reconciliations and financial record cleanup.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Self-motivated and proactive professional.
Comfortable taking ownership of projects and identifying solutions.
Experience improving accounting processes and creating documentation.
