The Elementary Teacher provides high-quality instruction aligned with Michigan Academic Standards, district curriculum, and grade-level expectations to support the academic, social, emotional, and developmental growth of all students. The teacher creates a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment that promotes student achievement, curiosity, and a love of learning. Through effective instruction, classroom management, and differentiated learning opportunities, the teacher meets the diverse needs of students while fostering critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and responsible citizenship. The Elementary Teacher works collaboratively with families, colleagues, and support staff to ensure all students have the support and opportunities needed to succeed.

Bachelor's degree of related subject from accredited university

Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate with proper endorsement

Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to students in a classroom setting utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Education, district-approved curriculum resources, and other appropriate instructional activities designed to promote student achievement and academic growth.

Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized, small-group, and whole-group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the unique learning needs, abilities, and interests of each student.

Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies and methodologies, including inquiry-based learning, cooperative learning, group discussion, direct instruction, lecture, discovery learning, and technology-enhanced instruction to maximize student engagement and achievement.

Translates lesson plans into meaningful and effective learning experiences that align with curriculum standards and instructional objectives while making efficient use of available instructional time.

Establishes, communicates, and maintains standards of student behavior necessary to create a positive, respectful, safe, and productive learning environment that supports academic success and social-emotional development.

Evaluates students' academic performance and social growth through formal and informal assessments; maintains accurate and complete records of student progress; and prepares progress reports, report cards, and other required documentation in accordance with district policies and procedures.

Communicates regularly with parents and guardians through conferences, written correspondence, telephone calls, electronic communication, and other appropriate means to discuss student progress, address concerns, and interpret instructional programs and school initiatives.

Collaborates with administrators, teachers, support staff, and families to identify and address student needs, implement interventions, and support student success both academically and socially.

Participates in faculty meetings, professional development activities, curriculum planning, and other school-related functions to maintain professional competence and support district and building goals.

Maintains a classroom environment that promotes equity, inclusion, respect, and high expectations for all students while encouraging active participation and student responsibility for learning.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building administrator.
