By serving as a bridge between scientists, local governments, and marine industries, we help communities protect coastal resources through sustainable, science-based solutions. Our extension specialists connect university expertise with local needs to strengthen the economic vitality and resilience of coastal communities. Education staff enhance environmental literacy and inspire stewardship by engaging the public, teachers, and students in programs that highlight the importance of Georgia's coastal ecosystems. We also prepare the next generation of educators and marine scientists through workforce development opportunities for college students. Meanwhile, our research program supports applied studies across Georgia that expand understanding of coastal and estuarine systems and address pressing environmental challenges. 1.0 Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience Preferred Qualifications Completion of a bachelor's degree with 1 year of related professional experience OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Professional administrative experience is needed. Position Summary This full-time position will provide administrative support to the Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant team at the Program's Brunswick facility. The position will also provide assistance in maintaining the facility and associated vehicles, vessels and grounds, as well as support ongoing extension, research and outreach programs as needed. Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Assistance to Associate Director and Faculty and Staff Perform daily administrative support tasks such as, but not limited to serving as front-of-house point of contact for general inquires and visitors, and fielding messages as appropriate; helping team members with registrations and travel arrangements as well as purchasing program materials: assist with team member onboarding; coordinate conference room scheduling and AV/IT assistance, manage package and mail distribution, tracking, and receiving. Schedule station team meetings, taking minutes and sharing notes with the broader unit. Percentage of time
45 Duties/Responsibilities Accounting Assistance Process invoices and complete payment requests along with associated record keeping, reporting, and archiving. Serve as a P-Card holder for the department, and conduct purchasing; utilize university systems such as One Source, UGAMart, Touchnet and other to conduct such transactions as well as communicate with UGA administrative staff, vendors and other stakeholders Percentage of time
35 Duties/Responsibilities Event Management
Assist with event management such as workshops, meetings, and conferences; initiate contracts with vendors for events, lodging, and catering, assist with registration tasks in Modern Campus and communicate with potential vendors, suppliers, and attendees Percentage of time
