Description

American Traveler is hiring an LPN/LVN for a Behavioral Health unit, requiring NY license, 2 years of experience, and EPIC charting experience.

Details

• Work in a locked Behavioral Health unit within a skilled nursing facility specializing in neurobehavioral rehabilitation for residents with Alzheimer's, dementia, and related aggressive behaviors
• 20-bed unit with private rooms and average daily census of 20
• Patient ratio of 1:20 for both weekdays and weekends
• Evening shift schedule, 5x8 hours (14:00-22:00)
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Floating to other units required based on facility need
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Current NY LPN/LVN license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• BLS certification required
• Experience with behavior management techniques and managing assaultive behavior
• Experience with de-escalation protocols
• Skilled nursing facility/nursing home and locked unit experience
• Competency in blood glucose monitoring, intake/output monitoring, isolation precautions, specimen labeling, and vital sign monitoring

Additional Information

• Care for residents with Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's, and other diagnoses presenting with unpredictable verbal and/or physical aggression
• Focus on behavioral stabilization, medication management, and discharge planning within a secured and structured environment
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized behavioral management strategies
• Program is designed for short-term stabilization (up to one year) with residents discharging back to prior care settings
• Unit does not accept residents requiring oxygen/tubing, IV therapy, feeding tubes, lines/ports/drains, insulin pumps, catheters, or nephrostomy tubes
• First-week orientation held during day shift
• First-time travelers are considered for this position
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel pay rate
• Returning staff must have a 6-month break in service system-wide
• Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
