Job Title: Manager - Clinical Pharmacy
Location: California (Bay Area)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 40 hours/week | Variable Shift (Exempt Salaried)
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction and operational leadership for clinical pharmacy services across multiple care settings.
Lead and develop clinical pharmacy teams while supporting professional growth and advancement.
Drive medication safety initiatives, formulary management, antimicrobial stewardship, and comprehensive medication management programs.
Develop and maintain clinical pharmacy standards, policies, and quality improvement initiatives.
Partner with physicians, nursing leadership, quality teams, and other healthcare stakeholders to improve medication-use processes.
Support pharmacy accreditation and certification initiatives, including ASHP Center of Excellence standards.
Develop and monitor performance metrics, dashboards, and quality improvement goals.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy.
Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency.
PGY2 residency in health-system pharmacy administration or a relevant clinical specialty (Preferred).
Master's degree in health-system pharmacy administration, business administration (MBA), health administration (MHA), or related field (Preferred).
Active, unrestricted California Pharmacist license.
Board Certification (BCPS, BCOP, BCIDP, BCSCP, or equivalent).
Completion of formal pharmacy leadership development program or executive leadership training (Preferred).
Certification in healthcare quality or process improvement (CPHQ, Lean/Six Sigma Green or Black Belt) (Preferred).
Minimum 7 years of progressive health-system pharmacy experience.
Minimum 3 years of pharmacy leadership experience overseeing clinical pharmacy services.
Experience as a residency coordinator or residency director.
Experience building comprehensive medication management programs, collaborative practice agreements, and layered-learning models (Preferred).
Experience leading or supporting pharmacy accreditation/certification initiatives such as ASHP Center of Excellence, TJC, DNV, URAC, or similar programs (Preferred).
Experience establishing quality improvement systems, dashboards, balanced scorecards, benchmarking, and performance improvement goals (Preferred).
Experience leading interdisciplinary committees such as Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) and medication safety committees (Preferred).
Skills & Knowledge
Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations, DEA controlled substance requirements, medication safety best practices, and Joint Commission/CMS medication management requirements.
Ability to analyze clinical performance data and develop evidence-based improvement strategies.
Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with physicians, executives, regulators, and frontline teams.
Ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives and drive results through others.
Experience with pharmacy analytics, dashboards, EHR-derived metrics, and medication-use quality measures.
Knowledge of ASHP Center of Excellence standards, pharmacy accountability measures, medication-use quality metrics, and healthcare accreditation standards.
Understanding of Just Culture and High Reliability Organization principles.
Compensation
Estimated Salary Range: $222,803 - $334,204 annually
Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and relevant licensure.
Additional Details
Full-time, exempt salaried position.
40 hours per week.
Must be available to work variable shifts, including weekends as needed.
