The New Orleans Family Justice Center is a nationally recognized, dynamic collaborative organization dedicated to providing immediate, effective, and comprehensive services to survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.

The Housing Case manager at the New Orleans Family Justice Center (NOFJC) plays a vital role in supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking by helping them access and maintain safe, stable housing. This position requires compassion, creativity, and strong advocacy skills to support survivors as they navigate the housing process and overcome barriers to long-term stability

Responsibilities:

• Housing search and placement.
• Assist clients in identifying safe, affordable housing options that align with their needs, goals, and program eligibility.
• Conduct apartment viewings and habitability inspections to ensure housing units meet applicable quality and safety standards.
• Coordinate and facilitate lease signings while serving as the primary liaison between clients, landlords, and property managers.
• Develop creative and client-centered housing solutions for individuals facing barriers to housing, including limited income, poor credit history, prior evictions, or other challenges.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with landlords, property managers, and community partners to expand housing opportunities for client.

Advocacy and Ongoing Support

• Advocate on behalf of clients experiencing housing discrimination, barriers to housing access, or other challenges that may affect housing stability.
• Maintain regular communication with clients to support timely housing placements, monitor progress, and address emerging needs.
• Connect clients with wraparound services, community resources, and supportive programs to promote long-term housing stability, self-sufficiency, and overall well-being.
• Empower clients through ongoing advocacy, resource navigation, and coordination of services to help them achieve their housing goals.

Client Engagement and Safety Planning

• Conduct routine check-ins with housed clients to assess ongoing needs, monitor progress, and update case documentation.
• Collaborate with clients to develop and maintain individualized safety plans tailored to their housing circumstances and personal needs.
• Support clients in establishing and strengthening connections to community resources, supportive services, and systems of care to promote long-term housing stability and well-being.

Financial Management and Documentation

• Process monthly rental payments and ensure the timely and accurate disbursement of housing assistance funds.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records of financial transactions, client assistance, and related documentation in accordance with agency policies and funding requirements.
• Monitor financial assistance records to ensure compliance with program guidelines and reporting standards.

Communication and Collaboration

• Communicate respectfully, professionally, and effectively with clients from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Collaborate closely with the Coordinated Entry Specialist and internal team members to coordinate services and ensure seamless client support.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with external partners, community organizations, and service providers to deliver coordinated, client-centered services.
• Foster effective communication across multidisciplinary teams to promote continuity of care and positive client outcomes.

Record Keeping and Compliance

• Ensure all client files, forms, and records are maintained in accordance with agency policies, program standards, and funding requirements.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date documentation of client services, financial assistance provided, and program outcomes.
• Protect client confidentiality by adhering to all applicable privacy laws, regulations, and agency policies.

Requirements:

• Prior experience in case management, social services, or housing is preferred, particularly within the New Orleans area.
• Complete 40 hours of domestic violence and sexual assault training.
• Attend all required in-service trainings.
• Attend all required staff meetings.
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Possess strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a demanding workload and meet deadlines.
• Exhibit creativity, adaptability, and strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
