Position Summary:

Pullman Market, a vibrant culinary destination celebrated for its farm-to-table commitment, is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Pastry Cook to join our esteemed culinary team. As a Pastry Cook in our commercial production kitchen, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of our culinary production processes. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization, following recipes accurately, and effectively managing inventory to support production needs.

Operational Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation and production of a variety of pastry products, including cakes, mousses, and other pastry items, ensuring all are prepared on time to the correct specifications.
• Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using commercial equipment and tools, implementing recipes for pastries, cakes, and other dessert items consistently to maintain quality and consistency.
• Operate ovens, mixers, and other baking equipment proficiently, assisting in their operation to ensure all products are produced to the correct specifications.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate effectively with management regarding ordering needs to ensure the availability of ingredients and supplies.
• Work collaboratively with the Corporate Pastry Chef to develop new dessert products and improve existing ones, contributing innovative ideas for menu enhancements.
• Follow recipes accurately and consistently, employing a meticulous approach to the creation of pastry products to ensure the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently produce high-quality food products.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating portion sizes.
• Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Willingness to undergo training and follow company policies and procedures.
• Texas Food handler and TABC certification.

Job Description: Pastry Cook at Pullman Market

Hourly base wages are determined by tenure and position and may vary based on experience and skill level.

Working Conditions:

• A typical work week for this position is 40-45 hours. Hours vary based on needs of the market and the department.
• Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting objects up to 50 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist movements.
• Exposure to hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment is possible.
• Familiarity with office equipment such as phones, computers, fax machines, and copiers may be required.
