Level II Data Center Fiber Splicing Technician

POSITION TITLE: Level II Technician, Data Center Fiber Optic CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt. Position Overview ADB is a Nationwide full turnkey provider of technology infrastructure solutions including Wireline, Wireless, Technology, Critical Infrastructure, and Engineering. ADB is seeking a Level II Technician to provide mid-level support on various data center projects within the ADB Technology group. This role will assist with the installation of servers and networking equipment in a fast-paced data center environment. The ideal candidate will have intermediate technical experience dependable, customer and quality-centric, a strong belief in safety, a strong work ethic, and ALL IN attitude to achieve results. Roles And Responsibilities Support Data Center, ISP and OSP projects in a variety of customer facilities nationwide, with the ability to determine equipment needs, cable route, cable direction, safety best practices, and perform splicing functions within a live customer facility Accurately inventory and install various IT hardware including, but not limited to backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures Maintains proper inventory of equipment and consumable stock to ensure projects are completed timely Possesses advanced knowledge and skillsets to utilize various hand tools to complete splices including diagonal cutters, razor blades, ribbon splitters, etc. Ability to read and interpret construction prints, splice matrices, cable pathway matrices, and drawings to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled Perform mid-level OTDR and power meter testing with full understanding of equipment results regarding fiber specifications per job for customer test data reporting and deliverables Perform mid-level splicing/testing equipment maintenance and report any issues that require equipment to be sent to the manufacturer for repair or calibration Perform mid-level fiber and copper cable installation including single and/or ribbon splices, aerial, underground, ISP cable routing, cable termination, assembly, and dressing to satisfy customer requirements Possess a full understanding of cable color code and large cable count numbering; create labels for installed equipment and cables to ensure satisfactory customer deliverables Add and remove non-powered cables and equipment following the scope of the project, with the ability to install cable pathways (i.e., J-hooks, support rings, cable slings, cable trays, ladder racks, etc.) and ground/bond IT equipment Perform basic cable relocations and hot cuts while maintaining cable organization Ability to install and/or research installation procedures for all splicing enclosures Read and process test results and problem solve basic issues identified during troubleshooting using test equipment software Consistently meets production expectations, ensuring company and customer property cleanliness and quality standards are met Effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders, responding timely to critical situations or emergency outages with sense of urgency, to offer customer-centric solutions as problems arise Possesses full understanding of safety risks, constantly assesses potential safety hazards, while working in a safety sensitive position and adhering to all ADB and customer safety requirements and standards Performs other position duties when requested Success Factors 100% Travel Ability Nationwide A strong belief in ZERO- Being Safe 100% of the time is the expectation Alignment with company mission, vision, and values A high level of customer centricity Strong work ethic with an ALL-IN attitude Strong team player with the ability to adapt to diverse team members Ability to perform in a fast paced/high volume environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills A high level of time management, accountability, and prioritization skills Ability to be organized, problem solve, and be solution oriented Self-motivated, goal- oriented, and driven to accomplish department goals Leadership skills- ability to lead and motivate a team to meet project goals Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) Work Environment This role will support Data Center, ISP and OSP Projects in a variety of customer facilities nationwide Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions like sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing, etc. May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels while onsite When working on site, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel toed boots. Experience And Education 1-3+ years of cable installation and/or splicing experience strongly preferred OSHA 10 certification preferred (ability to obtain upon hire required) Man lifts and CPR certification preferred (ability to obtain upon hire required) Ability to obtain a DOT medical card strongly preferred Valid driver license required High School Diploma or equivalent required The starting pay for this position is $26/hr and may vary based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
