Controls Technician

Building Controls Technician II/IIIAs a Building Controls Technician II/III, you are responsible for installing, programming, commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting building management systems (BMS) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS) within mission-critical data center environments. This role owns projects and service activities from startup through commissioning and ongoing support, working closely with customers, subcontractors, and internal project teams to deliver reliable system performance.Responsibilities:Install, program, commission, and troubleshoot BMS and controls systemsService existing building control systemsPerform startup and commissioning of complete building automation systemsInstall building control components including controllers, panels, conduit, sensors, and related hardwareBuild and assemble low-voltage control panelsPerform point-to-point verification and checkout activitiesPerform software and hardware calibration required for proper system operationExecute low-voltage cable installation and termination activities as neededSupport project commissioning activities, including participation in daily meetings and documentation of resultsWork closely with installation subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on schedule and in compliance with contract requirements, applicable codes, and industry standardsPartner with project teams and customers to deliver reliable, high-quality solutionsOwn assigned work from initiation through completion while proactively communicating progress, risks, and issuesOutcomes:Projects commissioned and delivered in accordance with contract requirements, code requirements, and customer expectationsBuilding control systems installed, calibrated, and operating as designedCommissioning activities completed with accurate documentation and issue resolutionStrong customer satisfaction through responsive troubleshooting and service supportSafe execution of work in active construction and mission-critical environmentsDemonstrates ownership, accountability, and effective communication throughout project deliveryQualifications:Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) in mission-critical or data center environments; Tridium Niagara experience strongly preferredExperience commissioning, programming, and troubleshooting networked control systems, including wire sheet programming and control logicWorking knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems commonly found in data center environmentAbility to read and interpret:Network topologiesElectrical one-line diagramsDevice wiring drawingsControl drawingsStrong understanding of open protocols such as:BACnet IPBACnet MSTPModbus TCPModbus RTUKnowledge of low-voltage wiring and terminations including:RS-232RS-485CAT5/CAT6Understanding of electrical code requirements and controls applications involving 120V, 240V, and 480V systemsFamiliarity with CAD software and construction drawingsProficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and VisioWorking Conditions / Physical Requirements:Work EnvironmentField-based role supporting data centers, commercial facilities, and active construction environmentsRegular interaction with customers, subcontractors, and project teamsPhysical RequirementsAbility to work in hard-hat construction environmentsAbility to climb stairs and laddersAbility to maneuver around piping, ductwork, and mechanical equipmentAbility to work safely near exposed line-voltage and low-voltage systemsAbility to perform field commissioning and troubleshooting activities for extended periodsTravel RequirementsTravel required based on project and customer needsApproximately 40-50% travel throughout the yearSite Access RequirementsAbility to obtain and maintain customer-required site access credentials, security authorizations, and facility access approvals as required for assigned projectsAbility to travel to customer and project sites as required; when driving is an essential function of the role, candidates must be able to meet company driving requirements, including maintaining a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record$110,000 - $180,000 a year The above range outlines total cash compensation which includes a combination of: Base salary (based on experience and technical level) Annual bonus opportunity Internal incentive programs Profit-sharing opportunities Eligible living expense and relocation assistance programs, if applicableWhat else can we offer you?We offer a fantastic lineup of benefits, including Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, HSA, 401k Matching, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick, Paid Holidays, Paid Parental Leave, Paid Short Term & Long Term Disability, Tuition Reimbursement, and a flexible hybrid work schedule (for office-based employees).
