POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources / Payroll Coordinator provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department while assisting the Payroll Manager in the accurate and timely administration of payroll. This role serves as a key resource for employees and managers regarding payroll, benefits, onboarding, HR systems, employee records, and compliance-related matters. The HR/Payroll Coordinator helps maintain efficient HR operations, supports employee lifecycle processes, assists with payroll administration, and ensures compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with processing weekly and semi-monthly payroll accurately and timely through ADP, partnering with the Payroll Manager to ensure payroll is processed correctly, payroll records are maintained, and all deadlines are met.
• Review employee time records, pay changes, new hires, terminations, bonuses, commissions, and deductions. Process garnishments, child support orders, and wage assignments.
• Assist with new hire onboarding, including employee paperwork, background checks, I-9 verification, and system setup.
• Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy within HRIS systems.
• Process employee status changes, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, and terminations.
• Assist with benefits enrollment, employment verification requests, and new hire orientation.
• Support employee recognition, service awards, and engagement programs.
• Create and update HR forms, templates, and standard operating procedures.
• Assist with HR audits, payroll audits, and records management.
• Ensure proper maintenance of personnel files and confidential information.
• Generate payroll and other HR reports as requested.
• Monitor completion of required compliance and training programs.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
• Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• 2+ years of payroll, human resources, or administrative experience required.
• Experience processing multi-state payroll preferred.
• Experience with ADP or similar HRIS/payroll systems preferred.
• Construction, field operations, or multi-location workforce experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of payroll processing and payroll compliance requirements.
• Working knowledge of HR principles, employment practices, and benefit administration.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
