Clinical Lab Technician

Job Summary The USC Keck School of Medicine is seeking a full‑time Clinical Lab Technician to support the day‑to‑day operations of the Biospecimen Repository Pathology Research Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The Clinical Lab Technician performs laboratory and documentation procedures, in compliance with USC Human Subjects Research policies, related to procurement, processing, banking and distribution of biospecimens in a CAP/CLIA certified environment. Key Responsibilities Procuring and processing tissue and fluid samples from human subjects as part of clinical trial, translational and basic science research: direct contact with clinic, radiology, ORs for scheduled procedures and status checks. Accessing biospecimens into the Specimen Management System, including tissue for various USC IRB‑approved studies. Assisting in administrative aspects of the Biorepository, including organizing and managing biospecimen requests/projects, new protocols, and current protocols. Retrieving and organizing biospecimens (frozen/fresh tissue, fluids, blood products, FFPE blocks, etc.) for researcher and clinician requests. Maintaining accurate records of completed work and cost accounting for recharge. Maintaining all relevant equipment (centrifuges, freezers, refrigerators, incubators, biosafety cabinets). About the Department The Keck School of Medicine Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is one of the largest pathology departments in the United States. The Department aims to shape the future of pathology as it will be practiced in community hospitals, academic medical centers and clinical laboratories throughout the country. Compensation The University offers a competitive salary package. Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Hourly rate range: $21.08 – $31.17.
