Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Ensure proper assembly, packaging, and sterilization of instrument trays according to facility protocols.
- Monitor sterilization processes including temperature gauges and sterilization indicators.
- Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization records and equipment logs.
- Distribute sterile instruments and supplies to healthcare teams in a timely manner.
- Follow infection control policies and sterile processing standards.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before sterilization.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sterile processing department.
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Completion of an appropriate Aide training program OR Central Technician program OR minimum 6 months of previous experience in Central Supply / Sterile Processing .
- Ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic, and interpret temperature gauges.
- NICHSPDP Certification (National Institute for the Certification of Healthcare Sterile Processing and Distribution Personnel) - Required .
- Previous experience working in a hospital sterile processing department.
- Familiarity with sterilization equipment, surgical instruments, and infection control standards.
