Details Acute care Labor & Delivery/Postpartum unit with 7 L&D beds, 4 triage beds, 2 overflow beds, and 27 postpartum beds with a 5-bed nursery Handles approximately 3 births per day and 1,545 births annually Patient population includes high-risk deliveries of any gestational age, EMT drop-offs, substance withdrawal cases, and a significant Spanish-speaking population Uses Cerner EMR and FetalLink fetal heart monitoring system 12-hour day shifts from 7:00am-7:30pm Requires 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule On-call is optional but preferred Floats between L&D and Postpartum units, and may float to NICU for growers/feeders or task assistance Unit follows AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines Charge/resource nurse support available on both units OB techs assist with c-section scrubbing, deliveries, supply stocking, and patient intake In-house OB/Neonatologist coverage available 24/7 with a 30-minute response time Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7 No ventilators or dedicated IV team on this unit Requirements Active CA RN license required Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN intermediate or advanced); STABLE certification preferred 2-3 years of L&D/PP nursing experience required At least one prior travel contract preferred Must be able to independently circulate c-section cases (scrubbing experience not required) L&D nurses must have postpartum experience 3-shift unit-specific orientation required Additional Information Provide direct patient care across L&D and postpartum units, including high-risk and high-acuity cases Holiday coverage required, typically one major and one minor holiday shared with permanent staff Navy scrub color required Philips telemetry equipment used on the unit First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity Health) within the past year; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable American Traveler Job ID P-751118.
