Post-Doc Research Associate - Arthur Lab Position Overview The Arthur Lab seeks an enthusiastic and highly-motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate interactions between the microbiota and intestinal disease, specifically inflammation, fibrosis, and colorectal cancer. Researchers in this lab use germ-free and gnotobiotic mice to causally link specific microbes, microbial genes, and microbial metabolites with health and disease in the gut. Laboratory work employs a range of microbiology, immunology, and molecular biology approaches plus multiomics technologies, including RNA-seq and spatial profiling. Responsibilities Develop independent research projects, including experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation. Perform in vitro and in vivo biological experiments, including molecular microbiology, tissue culture, and mouse model work. Work with commensal bacteria, intestine and stool samples, mouse models of intestinal inflammation and cancer, and conduct necropsy procedures. Manage lab resources, mentor graduate students and trainees, and assist with grant writing. Present findings at conferences and publish manuscripts. Collaborate with the principal investigator and team members, working under minimal supervision. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements PhD in immunology, microbiology, or a related area with experience performing in vitro and/or in vivo biological experiments. Required Qualifications Strong record of research productivity and an interest in host-microbiome interactions relevant to digestive diseases. Willingness to work with commensal bacteria, intestine and stool samples, mice, and to become proficient in mouse models of intestinal inflammation and cancer. Experience with in vitro and/or in vivo biological experiments. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in mouse models of infection, intestinal inflammation, or cancer. Proficiency in molecular microbiology techniques. Experience with tissue culture.
