Director of Ministry Development

Job Summary
The Director of Ministry Development is responsible for leading the fundraising and donor engagement strategy of Compassionate Hands. This role exists to secure the financial resources necessary to sustain and grow the organization’s mission by cultivating relationships, expanding the donor base, and increasing overall giving.
This leader will champion a culture of generosity, invite individuals and churches into meaningful partnership, and ensure the long-term financial health of the ministry.
Job Responsibilities
1. Fundraising Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan aligned with organizational goals
- Set and achieve revenue targets across individual, church, business, and foundation giving
- Oversee and execute major campaigns (annual campaign, year-end giving, special events)
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships
2. Donor Development & Relationship Management
- Build, cultivate, and steward relationships with new and existing donors
- Manage a portfolio of key donors and prospects, including regular communication and engagement
- Lead donor meetings, presentations, and follow-up
- Ensure consistent and meaningful donor acknowledgment and stewardship practices
3. Campaigns & Events
- Lead planning and execution of fundraising events (e.g., annual campaign, Giving Tuesday, special events)
- Collaborate with staff to ensure events are mission-aligned and effective
- Evaluate event performance and optimize for future growth
4. Church & Community Engagement
- Recruit and deepen partnerships with local churches and community stakeholders
- Represent Compassionate Hands in the community, building awareness and support
- Equip churches and partners with opportunities to engage in the mission through giving and service
5. Systems, Tracking & Reporting
- Maintain accurate donor records and track all fundraising activity
- Monitor progress toward fundraising goals and provide regular reports to the Executive Director
- Use data to inform strategy and improve donor engagement
6. Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with the Executive Director to align fundraising with overall strategy
- Collaborate with program staff to communicate impact stories and outcomes
- Help cultivate a culture of generosity across the organization
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fundraising, development, sales, or relationship-based revenue generation
- Strong relational and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and influence
- Ability to initiate, build, and sustain long-term partnerships
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and goal-oriented
- Alignment with the mission and values of Compassionate Hands
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with nonprofits, churches, or faith-based organizations
- Experience managing fundraising campaigns or donor portfolio
- Familiarity with donor databases

- This role is central to advancing the mission of Compassionate Hands by ensuring the resources are in place to serve individuals experiencing homelessness and to mobilize the community as part of the solution.

Full-time (salary based on experience)
In addition to base salary, this role includes the opportunity for income growth through performance-based bonuses tied to fundraising and revenue growth.
