STAFF ACCOUNTANT – CONSTRUCTION / HVAC

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing construction/HVAC company. The ideal candidate will have accounting experience in a construction, HVAC, mechanical, or related contracting environment and be comfortable working with job costing, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Experience with Foundation Software is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
• Assist with monthly financial close and financial reporting
• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and journal entries
• Assist with construction job costing and project accounting
• Review invoices, purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, and job-related expenses
• Track job costs, labor, materials, and other project expenses
• Assist with billing, collections, and customer account inquiries
• Reconcile vendor and customer accounts
• Assist with payroll and payroll-related accounting as needed
• Prepare accounting reports and spreadsheets
• Maintain organized and accurate financial records
• Support the Controller and accounting team with various accounting projects

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Construction, HVAC, mechanical contracting, or service-industry accounting experience preferred
• Foundation Software experience strongly preferred
• Understanding of general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, and journal entries
• Experience with job costing/project accounting
• Strong Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
