With supportive leadership, collaborative teams, and opportunities to grow, GUARD is a place where people build meaningful, long‑term careers.Good Things You Can Count On.Hybrid schedule: 2 days remote / 3 in‑officePredictable hours (no nights, weekends, or holidays)Competitive pay + generous PTOMedical, dental & vision starting day one401(k), tuition reimbursement & longevity bonusesResponsibilitiesWhat You’ll DoLead an underwriting team that supports key agency partnerships and drives consistent, high-quality portfolio performance.In this role, you’ll partner with leadership and distribution to drive growth, maintain key relationships, and ensure consistent underwriting execution and performance.How You’ll Make an ImpactBuild and maintain relationships with key Retail agency partners to support submission activity and improve business mixSupport underwriting planning by working with leadership and communicating direction to the teamHandle higher-level referrals from underwriting supervisors and assist with complex accountsMonitor submission and renewal volume, team productivity, and service level performanceReview workflows and assess staffing needs, including coordinating training for new and existing team membersReview quality control results to identify trends and areas for improvementWork with teams to ensure underwriting policies and procedures remain accurate and up to dateParticipate in agency meetings, internal meetings, and industry events as neededQualificationsWhat You’ll BringBachelor’s degree preferredPrior supervisory or leadership experience requiredProfessional insurance designations such as AU, API, CIC, or CPCU preferredMinimum of 5 years of underwriting experienceAdvanced knowledge of property and casualty underwriting practices, risk assessment, and coverage evaluationFamiliarity with insurance policy language and formsExperience using data and performance metrics to inform underwriting decisionsProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointStrong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and projectsClear written and verbal communication skillsWork across teams and maintain internal working relationshipsDemonstrated independent work, sound judgment, and attention to detailExperience reviewing or improving workflow processesWhat to ExpectLeadership responsibility for team performance and developmentRegular coordination with underwriting leadership and distribution partnersInvolvement in planning and day-to-day operationsOccasional travel to agency partners, GUARD offices, and industry eventsSalary$115,000 – 180,000 USD + bonus. In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, this range represents a good‐faith estimate.
