About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Surg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Client RN License required. Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Must have New York License in hand. - Locals accepted only if more than 75-mile radius. Description: The unit provides complex care for medicine, orthopedic overflow, and complex long-term patients. Registered Nurses will monitor telemetry patients. Experience with rapid response and code teams is necessary. Candidates must be proficient in managing pacemakers, feeding tubes, blood products, and central lines. Phlebotomy skills and experience with peripheral line care are required. Candidates should have experience with PICC line management and starting IVs. Knowledge of heparin protocols, orthopedic trauma, and total joint replacements is essential. Experience with surgical drains and high flow nasal cannula is required. Candidates will manage oxygen therapy, including nasal cannulas, face masks, and portable oxygen tanks. Tracheostomy management and wound care are also part of the job. Isolation precautions and wound vac management are necessary skills. Previous charge experience is required. Nurse-patient ratio experience of 1:6 is necessary. Candidates should be able to take on patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7. Floating to other units may be required. Weekend coverage is every other weekend. Proficient use of electronic health record systems is essential. Candidates will be part of the interdisciplinary team. Willingness to adapt to the patients’ varying diagnoses and care needs is crucial. This position requires effective communication and teamwork skills. Candidates must demonstrate clinical expertise and provide high-quality patient care.
