UniSea is looking for a detail‑oriented HR Associate to join our HR Team and help support UniSea’s HR operations and recruiting efforts. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing employee records (paper and electronic), assisting with recruitment, and ensuring that job candidates, new hires, and our tenured employees receive great HR service and support. Responsible for accurate data entry of status changes from the Human Resource Department or any other relevant hiring and employee data in a timely manner. Assist with Seasonal and Full‑Time recruiting processes by posting jobs, selecting candidates, conducting interviews, extending job offers, and processing onboarding paperwork. Act as a point of contact in assisting candidates to ensure a positive experience, regardless of whether they are hired or not. Assist in the recruiting process by enrolling candidates in background check, drug tests, and HealthForce systems. Track candidate progress and ensure timely completion of required pre and post‑hire steps. Make flight arrangements for employees, as needed. Update and maintain Arrivals spreadsheet with current flight information. Travel to Dutch Harbor, Alaska to assist and support the Dutch Harbor HR team during peak hiring or provide additional coverage as needed. Cross‑train with all members of the HR team and assists with creating HR documentation and procedures to enable team members to back each other up during absences. Review and update documentation and procedures regularly. Review and update active job descriptions. Provide clerical support for entire HR department including digitizing records, filing, data entry, phone backup, and mail distribution. Prepare employment verification letters when requested by employees. Respond to employment verifications received from outside agencies. Assist with unemployment claims and hearings. Respond to inquiries from employees and others, and where necessary, refer inquiries to appropriate person. Create, post and maintain content on UniSea’s social media accounts, website and intranet pages. Respond to comments and messages as necessary. Secondary Duties Assist with HRIS and ATS upgrades and implementations as needed. Assist with preparations, set‑up and clean‑up for employee recognitions and other company events. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent knowledge and work experience is required. Some college courses in Human Resources or business, HR certification, training or internship are strongly preferred. One to two years of work experience in HR or Recruiting, Office Clerical roles are required. Basic knowledge of FMLA, Title VII and EEO protections, FLSA, Form I‑9, and WA PFML are desired. Strong working experience with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, OneDrive) is required. Previous experience with SharePoint is desired. Previous Kronos/UKG HRIS experience preferred but not required. Must be able to always maintain confidential employee information. Must be able and willing to travel occasionally to Dutch Harbor, Alaska or on required recruiting trips, with several weeks advance notice. Must be able to work in a normal office environment by sitting at a desk, operating a computer, typing, answering phone calls, and scanning documents. Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 15 pounds may be required. Must be able to pass a post‑offer drug screen and criminal background check. This is a salaried non‑exempt position located in Redmond, Washington with a starting salary of $49,330 – $57,980 per year. UniSea offers a rich benefits package including: Hybrid work environment.
