About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Roanoke, Virginia, 24014!

Job Title: RN - ICU/PCU Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience at a large facility License: Active state or compact RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must be comfortable working all ICU and PCU units Charting: EPIC experience required Description: Position: RN - ICU/PCU Float The candidate must be comfortable working in all ICU and PCU units. Scheduling details include 3x12 shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Availability for 4x12 hour shifts can be requested. Charting is done using the EPIC system. Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, which means the traveler could float 2-3 times per shift. Weekend requirements may include every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block. There is a holiday requirement of working one holiday per 13-week contract. First-time travelers are accepted, and local candidates are allowed depending on distance criteria. All requests for time off must be included with the submission. The facility reserves the right to call off one shift every two weeks. Candidates should possess the following clinical skills: - IV therapy: arterial line management, central/PICC line care, and blood product administration - Respiratory support: BiPAP and CPAP management, as well as care for ventilated patients - Medication administration: continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips - Wound care: surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs - Cardiac monitoring: dysrhythmia interpretation and management - Endocrine/metabolic: adherence to IV insulin protocols The average patient ratio is 5:1 in PCU and 2:1 in ICU. The facility is a large teaching hospital and the region's only Level I Trauma Center. It also has Magnet designation for nursing excellence. Nursing interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The facility may employ specialized equipment and operate without CNA support. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong patient management skills and uphold high standards of care.
