Senior Accountant

We’re hiring a Senior Accountant to join our team at Marissa Collections in Naples. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys both the technical side of accounting and the opportunity to improve processes, create structure, and support the continued growth of the business. The Senior Accountant will partner closely with our Controller, oversee key accounting functions, and help strengthen the systems and reporting that support our teams across the organization. We’re looking for someone who is detail‑oriented, thoughtful, and comfortable taking ownership in a fast‑moving environment. The Senior Accountant is responsible for accounting, auditing, and budgeting within the organization on the assigned/delegated responsibilities, taking compliance and applicable regulations as well as industry norms into consideration at all times. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Using accounting standard principals and current / trending best practices, guide the accounting team toward enhanced protocols and support for the business, bringing hew ideas when applicable. Verify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place for all accounting processes, and build SOPs when they are absent, gaining acceptance from the Controller upon completion. In the absence of the Controller, lead and supervise the accounting department and its deliverables to the organization. Manage retirement plan, health insurance, GL insurance, workers comp. Create relationships and act as point of contact for GL insurance, landlord rents, health benefits and file all business compliance forms Handle and process any workers compensation claims Respond to any unemployment claims Work directly with the Controller to verify team responsibilities are in line with team member talents and assist with the evolution of the accounting team as the business and needs grow. Oversee AP/AR for the entire organization, offering guidance and support as needed to the appropriate team member. Maintain the payroll vendor relationship and verify payroll processes as scheduled, and all associated aspects, to include tax processing, is handled within the expectations for compliance. Primary owner of the Open To Buy needs of the organization, verifying inventory amounts are appropriate based on forecasts and financial controls. Maintain and monitor the Prepaid program for the organization, supporting both sales and leadership with budget, forecasting and recordkeeping needs. Work with sales accounts for reconciliations to verify sales tax is managed, audited and supported for Dyer. Deliver weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year‑end assigned tasks, to include inventory reporting, budget updates, sales figures per stylist, bonus tracking, payroll accruals, prepaid updates, Open To Buy, and any other assigned role related to the accounting function within the organization. Supervises development and implementation of business forms, documents and web forms. Develops, modifies, and implements policies, rules, and procedures. Directs the reporting functions of the unit. May serve as the lead for special projects as assigned. Establishes and maintains internal policies and procedures for administrative activities. Implements work plans and initiatives. Creates and manages budget projections, analyzing revenue and expenditures and other funds. Oversees the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities. Collaborates with staff and faculty and other administrative units to identify opportunities and develop solutions to problems and issues. Frequently handles sensitive and/or confidential issues. Other Ad hoc projects as requested. Attend all assigned meetings. Follow all company policies. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where sometimes new standards must be built. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, email and internet functions. Experience in an inventory management software a plus and the ability to become adept within the introductory period is an essential requirement. Capabilities with accounting software and ability to manipulate data within the elected platform is essential. Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Accounting, finance or related field, required. Certified Accountant Designation certification preferred.
