Position Overview As a Superintendent, you will directly manage the execution of field operations. Superintendents set high expectations for safety, quality, schedule, cost performance, and team development. You will work on North America’s largest and most unique projects, building the next generation of infrastructure builders. A strong technical and practical background in specialty foundations and geotechnical construction is required, along with excellent communication and teamwork skills. District Overview Kiewit Foundations Co. is a full‑service geotechnical foundation contractor across North America. The team handles drilled shafts, micro piles, driven piles, auger cast‑in‑place piles, full displacement piles, soil mixing, excavation support, anchors, tie‑backs, stone columns, and other solutions in transportation, power, water, mining, building, industrial, oil, gas, and chemical markets. Responsibilities Mentor and grow Junior Superintendents. Review and approve foremen, journeymen, and laborers’ composite labor rates. Manage contract administration and hold subcontractor/field management meetings. Develop a client‑relations program involving on‑site staff. Initiate and attend client meetings for problem resolution and planning. Approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash‑flow projections. Review, approve, and negotiate change orders. Plan project completion and turnover. Maintain a daily project diary for record keeping. Ensure timely performance evaluations for direct reports. Recommend organizational, policy, procedural, or staffing changes. Review and approve or reject promotions up to General Foremen. Qualifications 8+ years in planning, scheduling, and managing deep foundation or ground‑improvement operations. 5+ years supervisory experience as a superintendent. Broad knowledge of foundation/ground‑improvement equipment (drills, concrete pumps, batch plants) and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in pumping, placement of concrete and grout. Expertise in one or more of the following: pile driving, auger cast, small‑diameter shafts, micro piles, etc. Self‑starter, highly motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to quickly learn Kiewit’s policies, procedures, and software. Strong problem‑identification and resolution skills. Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal abilities. Comprehensive knowledge of ground‑improvement techniques, structural deep foundation methods, and support‑of‑excavation operations—including rigid inclusions, soil mixing, vibro‑replacement, vibro‑compaction, grout permeation, jet grout, dynamic compaction, micro piles, drilled shafts, auger cast‑in‑place piles, and diversion piles; and excavation support such as secant piles, soldier piles, anchors, and tie‑backs. Other Requirements Work productively and meet deadlines. Communicate and interact professionally with supervisors, employees, and others. Perform work safely, following oral and written instructions and safety policies. Work during normal operating hours; overtime and weekends may be required. Adapt to various locations and conditions.
