Audit Senior Accountant Summary

The Audit Senior Accountant applies their expertise in the firm’s core values, policies, and financial principles to enhance both client service and professional development. With a strong technical foundation, they lead complex projects, mentor staff, and contribute to firm initiatives.

Audit Senior Responsibilities

• Leads audits, reviews, compilations, and agreed-upon procedure engagements of varying complexity, ensuring compliance with professional standards.
• Reviews financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with evolving standards.
• Assesses internal controls, identifies areas for improvement, and provides recommendations to clients.
• Prepares and secures approval for engagement letters and modifications, ensuring clarity on assignments and fee structures.
• Manages project timelines and budgets, ensuring engagements are completed efficiently and profitably.
• Maintains compliance with FASB, AICPA, GAAP, and APB standards across all engagements.
• Prepares management letters and coordinates with the tax department on tax-related matters.
• Identifies and implements process improvements within engagements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Keeps Partners and Managers informed of significant developments, analyzes major issues, and provides recommendations for resolution.
• Collaborates across departments to address client needs efficiently and enhance service delivery.
• Maintains proactive client communication, fostering relationships beyond immediate needs and identifying opportunities for additional services.
• Stays informed on economic, political, and legislative trends that may impact the business environment.
• Provides training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for staff, fostering professional growth and development through the Career Coaching program.
• Assists in recruiting efforts by developing training materials and onboarding new staff and interns.
• Develops expertise in a specialized industry or technical area, contributing to firm knowledge and client service.
• Oversees monthly billing, reviews additional billing opportunities, and ensures fee collectability.

Requirements

Audit Senior Qualifications and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• Active CPA licensure preferred.
• 4+ years of public accounting experience, with at least 1 year of experience leading engagements.
• Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA).
• Proficient with technology-based systems and equipment with a focus on Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
