Operations Supervisor

Our client is expanding operations at their Waste-to-Energy power generation facility in Lorton, VA and is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join the leadership team. Veterans and transitioning military professionals are strongly encouraged to apply, especially candidates with backgrounds in Navy Nuclear, power generation, engineering operations, utilities, boiler operations, or technical leadership roles. This role is ideal for a hands-on operational leader with direct experience supporting or supervising live power generation operations in a heavy industrial environment.The Operations Supervisor will report directly to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for leading day-to-day plant operations while ensuring safe, environmentally compliant, and reliable power generation performance. This individual will provide front-line leadership to operations personnel while maintaining strong operational discipline, safety standards, and plant readiness. The ideal candidate understands the demands of power plant operations, can troubleshoot complex operating conditions under pressure, and has experience leading teams through both routine and upset conditions. Strong knowledge of high-pressure boilers, steam systems, turbine/generator operations, and control room processes is highly preferred. What They're Looking For: - 5-7 years of experience in power generation, utilities, boilers, steam systems, renewable fuels, or similar industrial plant operations - Leadership or supervisory experience in a live operations environment - Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills - Calm decision-maker during emergency or upset operating conditions - Safety-focused leader who can hold teams accountable while remaining approachable - Navy Nuclear leadership experience is highly valued - Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at heights/confined spaces, and wear a full-face respirator Day-to-Day Responsibilities: - Lead and coordinate daily plant operations activities - Supervise and develop 5 Shift Supervisors and 4 Control Room Operators (CROs) - Balance leadership responsibilities (60%) with field operations support (40%) - Report directly to the Operations Manager - Support training, troubleshooting, plant reliability, and operational readiness Monday-Friday schedule, Day shift | Outage periods require 6-day weeks / 12-hour shifts (60 days/year total) Job 59103 Salary: $150K base salary + straight-time OT (average total compensation around $200K/year) 13% annual bonus Full benefits | 401k with up to 7% match | PTO and paid holidays | Paid parental leave | Tuition reimbursement
