Direct Counsel is seeking a Government Investigations & White Collar Defense Associate with 3–5 years of relevant experience to join a sophisticated litigation and investigations practice in Long Island, New York .

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience in government investigations, criminal defense, and/or complex civil litigation to work on a diverse range of high-stakes matters involving government enforcement, fraud litigation, investigations, and white collar defense.

Responsibilities

• Represent individuals and organizations in government investigations and white collar defense matters .
• Assist with matters involving federal and state prosecutors, regulators, and investigative agencies .
• Respond to civil investigative demands, subpoenas, and government requests for information .
• Conduct legal research and draft substantive briefs, motions, memoranda, and other written advocacy.
• Handle matters involving government enforcement litigation and complex civil fraud disputes .
• Participate in internal and external investigations and develop defense strategies.
• Assist clients throughout matters ranging from the investigation and grand jury stages through trial, appeal, and collateral proceedings .
• Work collaboratively with experienced attorneys while taking meaningful responsibility for sophisticated matters.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant legal experience .
• Experience in one or more of the following:
  • Government investigations
  • White collar or criminal defense
  • Civil litigation
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent judgment and communication abilities.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Ability to handle sophisticated matters in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
• Commitment to providing exceptional client service.

Preferred Experience

• Federal judicial clerkship experience is strongly preferred .
• Demonstrated written advocacy experience involving:
  • Government investigations
  • Government enforcement litigation
  • Complex civil fraud litigation
• Experience representing individuals or organizations responding to government subpoenas, investigative demands, or enforcement actions .

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $190,000–$235,000 , depending on experience and qualifications.
• Potential additional contingent compensation based on performance and other applicable factors.
