The Sous Chef serves as the second-in-command in the kitchen, supporting the Chef de Cuisine in leading daily operations while ensuring every dish reflects quality, consistency, and care. This role blends culinary talent with operational leadership — assisting in menu execution, mentoring the team, and maintaining a kitchen culture rooted in professionalism and pride. Requested Tasks Assist in menu planning, execution, and daily management of kitchen staf Collaborate on the development and testing of new recipes to ensure creativity and consistenc Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and food is delivered on time and to standar Oversee kitchen operations in the absence of the Chef de Cuisin Monitor food preparation and presentation to maintain quality and brand standar Address and resolve operational challenges quickly and effectively Train and mentor kitchen team members on culinary techniques, food safety, and presentatio Support inventory management and ordering to maintain appropriate stock level Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the kitchen Requested Capabilities Prior experience as a Sous Chef in an upscale dining or hotel environment highly preferred Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations Proven leadership and communication skills Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple priorities Detail-oriented with a patient, steady leadership style Keen eye for cleanliness, efficiency, and presentation Ability to stand, walk, and work with kitchen tools and equipment for extended periods As part of the Makeready collection, we proudly offer a variety of thoughtful benefits and perks for eligible team members including accommodating PTO/PTO exchange, medical/dental/vision benefits, maternity/paternity leave, pet insurance, company-matched dependent care & 401k, student loan repayment program and a wide range of additional ancillary benefits.
