High School: Lead Teacher of Coverage Coordination

Lead Teacher (Coverage Coordination) – KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School Full-time Start Date: Next year opening Department: Teacher Responsibilities Classroom Responsibilities Primarily oversee and independently lead up to 60 students working on asynchronous assignments, upholding school expectations including safety protocols. May also lead a class independently, co‑teach, provide short‑ or long‑term coverage, or step into a lead classroom role later in the year based on the school's needs. Maintain school‑wide systems for absent work (proficient in Google Classroom, PowerSchool, and Deanslist). Collaborate with classroom teachers leading up to and following planned absences. Maintain communication with school leadership team, highlighting trends and gaps in coverage expectations for the team. Ensure that all children are affirmed, valued, and challenged every day. Foster a positive and safe learning environment. When applicable, create and internalize academically aligned lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments. Innovate on best practices to execute engaging, differentiated instruction at a level rigorous for all students. Implement aligned school‑wide or grade‑level student culture systems and proactive classroom management strategies. If asked to provide long‑term coverage, responsibilities may include: Regularly analyse student work and academic data to modify lessons, refine curricula, and inform instructional practice. Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date student grades/records and initiate strong lines of communication with students and their families regularly regarding growth and progress. Prepare and internalise rigorous and engaging unit and daily lessons, leveraging provided curricula/resources and intellectual preparation tools. School and Professional Responsibilities Participate in school‑wide and individual professional development, including pre‑service training over the summer and weekly during the academic year. Take ownership for your craft, seeking and implementing feedback from your coach and collaborating with teammates within and beyond school‑designed structures. Perform assigned duties including (but not limited to) classroom coverage, bus, lunch, transition, and dismissal duties. Develop strong relationships with families through participation in school events and consistent phone calls, texts, and/or emails with caregivers. Offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues to create a professional working atmosphere conducive to accountability, change, and improvement. Collaborate with grade‑level and content teams to tackle common challenges and implement grade‑wide systems, sharing responsibility for all students. Maintain dependable attendance according to the school calendar, initiating proactive communication when attendance barriers arise. Participate and engage in regional professional development and community events as required. Demonstrated ability to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make reasonable judgments and decisions in a timely manner in accordance with the needs of the school. Self‑awareness, flexibility and emotional intelligence to navigate a setting with students who express diverse needs. Consistently use interpersonal and self‑management skills to support the behavioural and emotional needs of students, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment and managing conflict with students, staff, and caregivers. Effective communication skills for all duties, including in‑person, written, group, and virtual platforms. Physical mobility to execute tasks such as kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, bending, and reaching overhead. Physical strength sufficient to lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds of materials and to restrain a student in emergency situations. Manual dexterity to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and operate computer and office equipment. Passion for subject/content area with a commitment to professional learning. Minimum 2+ years of full‑time teaching experience. Bachelor’s Degree required. Pass Criminal Background Check. Benefits The minimum base salary for this exempt position is $55,000 to $89,500 per 1.0 FTE/45 hours per week, depending on years of relevant experience after your Bachelor's degree and any advanced degrees (+$3,000 for 1st advanced degree and +$1,500 for 2nd advanced degree). The role includes a $1,000 signing bonus and an annual $2,000 retention bonus in subsequent years. KIPP MA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
