Postpartum Mother-Baby Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 4 Years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - 4 years of experience or more working postpartum - Travel experience preferred - Ability to adapt to unit and staff functions

Unit has 28 postpartum beds. Approximately 3,300 births occur per year. Certifications required: BLS and NRP. Staffing ratio is 1 nurse to 4 couplet care patients. Fetal monitoring system used: Fetal Link. Electronic medical record system utilized: Cerner. Charge nurses may take patient assignments if needed. Nurse aides and OB techs are available, typically 1-2 based on census. Weekend requirement is every other weekend. No call requirement is in place. One major and one minor holiday off is expected. Scrub color is navy. Telehealth system in place is Nihon Kohden. No ventilators are utilized on the unit. OB attending is present 24 hours a day. RT and pharmacy services available 24/7. Shifts are 12 hours from 7 AM to 7 PM. Floating may occur to care for feeders and growers in a low acuity environment. Common diagnosis includes patients 20 weeks and above with high-risk factors such as high blood pressure, multiples, diabetes, and substance abuse. No gynecological surgeries are conducted in postpartum. Candidates must keep an open mind to adapt to how the unit functions. Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment, and 3 shifts for assignments under 13 weeks. Charting system utilized is Cerner.
