Growing together.This position manages risk-based internal audit and advisory activities across Optum Financial and Optum Bank. The Associate Director evaluates governance, risk management, compliance, and internal control processes across banking products, financial services, operations, technology, and third-party relationships. The role collaborates with business and audit leaders to identify emerging and elevated risks, provide objective and practical insights, support team development, and promote continuous improvement across the organization.Primary Responsibilities:Participate in pertinent risk assessment processes led by the Audit Management Team to ensure that audit plans cover higher risk areas. For all audit projects for the assigned business area(s), develop / approve the project risk assessment, audit objectives, scope, and audit programDrive segment risk strategy in partnership with Director(s), leading to determination of audit prioritiesPerform internal audits including audit planning, detailing control procedures and related testing and reporting in accordance with professional and departmental standards, including financial and operational projectsProvide managerial oversight over more complex and / or highly visible audit and advisory engagementsLead / participate in special projects undertaken by the department and / or the CompanyCreate, review, and approve pertinent audit workpapers and communications of audit results. Workpapers should comply with department and IIA standards for content and qualityProvide staff with professional and technical expertise and guidance to ensure that audit objectives and scope are satisfied. This includes assisting staff members and audit contractors in the development and negotiation of audit recommendations and responses, evaluating the performance of the audit team, and providing guidance regarding departmental and company policies and proceduresAct as a mentor for other management team members across IAASEnsure effective deployment and optimization of IAAS resources across audit engagements and departmental segmentsManage larger teams with a larger span of controlsPromote the use of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and technology-enabled audit techniques to enhance risk identification, improve audit efficiency, and support data-driven conclusionsYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, technology, or related discipline6+ years of relevant business experience, internal audit, or public accounting experienceDemonstrated experience leading complex, risk-based audit and advisory engagements through planning, fieldwork, reporting, and issue follow-upSolid written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting complex issues and practical recommendations to business and audit leadersProven solid interpersonal skills while working effectively with a teamDemonstrated ability to coach, develop, and motivate audit professionals and build collaborative, high-performing teamsProven solid leadership and project-management skills, including experience managing multiple engagements, teams, priorities, deadlines, budgets, and stakeholdersPreferred Qualifications:Relevant assurance certification (CPA, CFE, CIA, CISA)Experience auditing banking and financial services organizations, including associated products, services, and operational processesExperience using data analytics, artificial intelligence, or technology-enabled audit toolsExperience working in a complex IT / IS environmentThorough understanding of risk and internal control concepts and their practical applicationDemonstrated creativity and initiative in enabling business solutionsProven excellent strategic skills and proven ability to lead changePay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
