Opportunity:

Physician Assistant (PA) - Surgery - Cardiothoracic

Job Details:

• Locum position providing cardiothoracic and vascular surgery coverage in an inpatient/hospital-based setting
• Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with floor call/beeper coverage from 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Saturday and Sunday require 24-hour onsite support including floor call or OR call
• At least 1 to 2 weeks per month of coverage required through 2027
• Provide post-operative care for all types of cardiothoracic and vascular patients
• Perform emergency surgery on cardiothoracic and vascular patients
• Take consults and referrals from the emergency department, Cath Lab, and all hospital providers
• Responsibilities include vein harvesting, retrieval of vascular tissues for use as a bypass conduit, and assisting in surgery
• Additional duties include rounding, writing prescriptions, coordinating care, ordering and interpreting tests
• Average patient census of 20 to 26 patients per day in a Level 2 Trauma designated facility
• Patient population consists of adult and geriatric patients
• EMR system used is Epic
• May be required to supervise or teach
• Minimum 5 years of experience in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery services required
• Board certification in vascular surgery required
• Active Ohio license or compact license, active ACLS, and active DEA required
• Clean background with no malpractice or license issues required
