Director, Strategic Planning

Agency: Omnicom Health Job Function: Strategy and Planning Job Subfunction: Strategy Job Summary The Director, Strategic Planning leads brand strategy development for pharmaceutical and health markets, using market research, insights, and strategic storytelling to guide positioning, creative briefs, and tactical plans. The role drives clear direction in internal and client meetings, supervises a team, and contributes to new business development. Essential Functions Lead brand strategy across multiple accounts, including positioning, bedrock, creative briefs, message strategy, and tactical planning. Translate market dynamics, customer insights, and disease state knowledge into actionable brand solutions. Conduct and oversee market research, deliver insight mining and ideation, and consult on research design and methodology. Facilitate client workshops and brainstorming sessions to develop strategic POVs and recommendations. Collaborate with agency departments to ensure insight integration and strategy execution. Manage, mentor, and develop junior planners; oversee hiring, performance reviews, and career development. Job Duties / Responsibilities Execute strategic planning fundamentals for assigned therapeutic areas and brands. Partner with cross-functional teams to pull through insights into strategy. Lead planning for small accounts, support senior planners on larger accounts, and grow strategic influence. Deliver full suite of brand strategy deliverables. Expand leadership on new business - immerse in insight gathering, storytelling, strategy development, and tactical pull-through. Supervise Associate Director, Strategic Planning, Supervisor, and Senior Strategic Planner; provide mentorship. Conduct hiring, staffing, and full life‑cycle talent management for direct team. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field required. Minimum experience: 7+ years in brand strategy or market research within an agency; 5+ years in pharmaceutical/health markets preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficient with Microsoft Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel. Strong working knowledge of research tools (e.g., SERMO, Datamonitor) and social media platforms. Excellent oral and written communication, strategic thinking, and analytical skills. Ability to use AI platforms to accelerate strategic deliverables. Effective multitasking with adherence to timelines and organization. Deep understanding of brand/pharma marketing, promotional strategy, and market access trends. Additional Information for Specialty Functions Pharma/health strategic planning or brand marketing experience preferred. Experience in market access, reimbursement, or access agencies required. Manufacturing experience considered a plus. Statement of Understanding Roles may evolve and additional duties may arise beyond those listed. The base compensation ranges from $130,000 to $180,000.
