Position Overview The Facilities Assistant coordinates the full range of maintenance, operation, and security activities for the school’s buildings and grounds, ensuring campus upkeep and safety through inspections, vendor coordination, and preventive maintenance planning. Key Responsibilities Coordinate with third‑party vendors (landscaping, pest control, alarm/safety communication). Oversee janitorial and subcontracted teams, ensuring timely completion of tasks. Monitor facilities repair requests and address concerns promptly. Identify and report potential costly issues to develop preventive maintenance plans. Troubleshoot and repair routine facilities issues (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, wall repair, painting, landscaping). Act as a primary contact for security issues, coordinating with Facilities Manager and Director of Operations. Maintain a safe environment, including snow removal from entrances, walkways and parking areas. Participate in safety team activities, ensuring signage, barriers, fencing, and drills. Grounds maintenance: daily assessment of HVAC components, clear classroom areas after after‑care, police playgrounds and nature center, apply weed control, and secure gates and windows. Manage meeting and event setup. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of facilities maintenance experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills; basic email and phone usage. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Fluency in Spanish and/or Mandarin Chinese. Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry. Experience with HVAC systems. Experience with school or building maintenance. Experience using electronic databases and computer software. Comfortable driving a 10‑ft box truck.
