Work Location Sacramento County Job Overview The Research Data Specialist I (RDS I) is an independent technical researcher and statistician within the Department of Developmental Services Research and Data Analytics Branch, Program Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Section. The role involves complex data generation, manipulation, and analysis, providing expert consultative services to department management, staff, regional center representatives, community members, and other stakeholders. The RDS I serves as a resource for staff and regional center staff regarding official program statistics for developmental services. Responsibilities Independently perform complex statistical data generation, manipulation, and analysis. Provide expert consultative services and propose corrective actions to management and stakeholders. Establish and nurture collaborative relationships with internal and external entities to build, monitor, and manage complex projects throughout their lifecycles. Act as a resource for staff and regional center staff regarding program statistics. Working Conditions Hybrid in‑office/telework position; may change. Incumbent may be required to report to the office or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified or cancelled. Extensive experience with complex data. Ability to use multiple technology platforms such as SQL, Python, and PowerBI. Experience generating and reporting actionable data to inform policy or program development. Desirable Qualifications Knowledge of programming skills in SQL and Python, research methods and techniques, statistical methods, and survey methods. Ability to communicate effectively, analyze and make recommendations, plan and carry out research projects, prepare and present technical reports, establish cooperative relationships, and analyze data and present information clearly.
