Systems Engineer

Payrate: $46.00 - $47.00/hr.


Position's Contributions to Work Group:
Responsible for helping to define the requirements and architecture for bringing an autonomous machine system together. The role will primarily focus on developing the system integration requirements for multiple systems within an autonomous machine within the Loading, Dozing & Compaction Application Team. These systems can include many different types of onboard electronic systems, as well as process and people interactions. The incumbent needs to be very detail oriented and work well with and through others. They will also need to be capable of making and communicating good decisions around the trade-offs between time, resources, and quality.


Typical task breakdown:

• Applying new autonomous system solutions and technologies on a semi or full autonomous system
• Decomposition of Customer requirements into (L6) system level requirements including both hardware and software related requirements
• Managing system level requirements and related features in DevOps
• Work closely with Machine System teams (L6) to determine the best way to deliver on machine autonomous features, including component selection and system integration
• Ensure clear documentation and traceability.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for Surface Loading Machine Autonomous Solutions
• Communicates system readiness and technical risk to stakeholders

Education & Experience Required:

• Years of experience: 5-7 years of experience
• Degree requirement: Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• No 2 year degrees
• Open to Master's with full 5 years experience

• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer supporting product development teams focusing on developing autonomous machines, including the integration of software and hardware to deliver autonomous solutions
• Prior experience collaborating with systems integration and validation teams for engineering product development, including the validation of software and hardware to deliver autonomous solutions both in the lab and on machine
• Knowledge and experience with Construction Equipment such as Articulated Dump Trucks, Hydraulic Excavators and Wheel Loaders

• Proven ability to work on production products through design, implementation, customer rollout, and support.
• Ability to decompose complex customer requirements into achievable technical requirements for the systems that make up the product.
• Knowledge and experience with Autonomous Systems, preferably a Command system
• Experience with systems integration over CAN and Ethernet

• Work with a global team to communicate the Why's and develop the How's of agreed features.
• Clearly document the details for the system and ensure understanding and compliance with each subsystem team.
• Communicate designs and tradeoffs with stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Experience in Construction or Mining industry

• Strong working knowledge of the Command ecosystem in mining or construction, or other centralized control system architectures which can be drawn upon for design proposals and decisions.

• Masters degree in an autonomy related area

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $46.00 - $47.00 /hr . Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience.
